For applying to a master’s program in a German University, you can apply through many ways, the first one being the DAAD,  or, through the common application process called ASSIST , or directly through the central admission office of the German university. Whichever way you choose, you need to have at least completed the bachelors level or in the final year of the bachelors program in your home country, have taken the IELTS or the TOEFL, to ensure English language proficiency and also have started with the German language certification .


Applying through DAAD, the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst , ( DAAD ) it’s a German academic exchange service public funded , self governing organization for higher education in Germany, which mainly promotes higher education for international students in Germany . They offer programs and funding for international students, promote Germany has an academic research destination and help built ties between institutions across the globe. The DAAD web site gives you all the information required for the students regarding the programs, universities and the application process, and students can apply to universities through DAAD, by sending their application materials to the address given in the web site.

The DAAD offers scholarship programmes throughout the world for all subjects, the application procedure for the scholarship may vary from one scholarship program to another, normally, students register themselves in the DAAD portal by creating an account and continue with the application process.

The students can also apply through the common application forum called the Uni ASSIST. Generally, most of the universities requires students to have passed the preliminary test to ensure that they qualify for the program, before they apply to the university.. the Uni assist  evaluates the international scores received from the student  to check if they are equivalent to the German school university, In the event of the positive examination, the uni assist forwards the application to the university for the decision. Not all programs are applied through the uni assist, It is up to the university to decide which applicant and which degree courses uni assist is responsible for or not responsible for.

The student can apply to any number of universities through the Uni assist , they only need one set of documents to fulfil all the requirements set out by the university. The application are processed through the online application portal for the uni assist , where all the documents are uploaded for a particular fee

Some universities also accept the application form students directly through their web sites. The student creates an account in the online application portal of the university application process, upload all the required documents onto the online application portal. Sometimes , the university expects you to courier the hardcopy of all the documents to the address mentioned in the university web site.
