The IELTS is international English language testing systems, is designed to test the speaking , reading, listening and writing skills of individuals who are looking at studying or working in countries where English is the main language of instruction.IELTS is jointly owned by university of Cambridge, ESOL examination, British council.

More than 800 test centers around the world administer IELTS. Most test centers are run by the British Council, IELTS Australia, or universities and language schools

There are four sub-tests, or modules, to the IELTS test: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Students must sit all four sub-tests. While all students take the same Listening and Speaking tests, they sit different Reading and Writing tests, depending on whether they have selected the Academic Module or the General Training Module.

The IELTS test is for a duration of  2 hrs and 45 mts. The listening test consists of 4 sessions, played on a CD player, in order of increasing lasts for about 30 minutes. It consists of four sections, played on cassette tape, in order of increasing difficulty. Each section might be a dialogue or a monologue. The test is played only once and the the questions are to be answered while listening to the session on tape, The reading session lasts for 60 minutes. Students are given an Academic Reading test, or a General Training Reading test. Both tests consist of three sections, and in both tests the sections are in order of increasing difficulty. Writing also  lasts for 60 minutes. Again, students take either an Academic Module, or a General Training Module. Students must perform two writing tasks, both the task have a different type of writing, and no choice is given in the session ..  The speaking session consists of a one-to-one interview with a specially trained examiner. The interview is recorded and has three separate parts: An introduction and interview, then the student has to speak on a particular topic for 2 minutes, and then a two way discussion linked to the topic spoken. This interview will last for approximately 11-14 minutes.

The test of English as foreign language or the TOEFL,  is most widely accepted English language test in the world, administered by the ETS, and recognized by more than 9000 colleges in more than 130 countries in the world

The TOEFL is an internet based test, testing you on your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, and the TOEFL test is given on fixed dates, given more than 50 times a year. and the test takes more than 4 hrs t complete , you cannot take it more than once in a 12-day period. If you already have a test appointment, you cannot register for another test date that is within 12 days of your existing appointment , and the cost of the test varies between 170$ to 250$ varies from country to country.

Once the test is completed, after a duration of 2 weeks , you will receive the scores, in separate sessions, with all the categories from 0 to 30 , with the total score of 120. It is mandatory in most of the universities that each band width cannot go lower than 20 per test, There is no passing or failing in the TOEFL scores, where , any score less than 70 is not accepted in most of the universities. TOEFL scores are valid for two years.

Scores of the TOEFL  test can be sent to 4 universities before the test, and  additional score reporting can be done after the test for a fee. The reading and the listening are scored by the computer,  the reading session has a academic texts and answering questions, the listening session has lectures , class room discussions and conversations.  The speaking session has ETS certified test scorers rate responses and evaluate how well you develop your topic and deliver your message in English and the writing session will test you on grammar, vocabulary, accuracy and completeness, which are tested by human raters or the e raters
